Do you wait until you get to church or meeting and start worshiping

Worship2a

when the music and singing starts?

James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone in good spirits? He should sing praises.

There are 111 references to 'sing' in the bible (NET), and it should not be a surprise to know that 70 of them are in the Book of Psalms.

Singing and praising is an essential element of our worship but  there is a danger of it being the ONLY part if we are not careful. Music is powerful.  It is possible to be swayed emotionally listening or joining in with praise and so we should be! But the focus should be on God rather that on what the singing does to us. Sadly much of the big business of modern worship songs are about how it affects me or 'I'.

We should be primarily focusing on revering God with our emotions and our mind so that it is properly a part of our worship.

Ephesians 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your hearts to the Lord,

Secondly we should be encouraging one another and building up each other.
