Welcome to our St Giles Focus website which in fact is a website belonging to one of the House Groups attached to St Giles Church Northampton. St Giles is an Anglican church located in the centre of Northampton and it has a scattered array of worshipers from Northampton and surrounding villages. It says of itself:

"Although we are part of the Church of England you don’t have to be an Anglican to come here! We have a vision to see lives changed by Jesus and we believe he wants us to show God’s love to others as we put our faith into action."

The implication of this statement is not to expect 100% Anglican congregation whatever that term means! Equally this is not an official website from St Giles Church.

What is a HOUSE GROUP or a Home Group?

Simply, a small group of christian people who meet together regularly to praise, study the bible, prayer and maybe take refreshments or a meal together. Normally they meet together in someone's house. The smaller setting allows for a greater sense of community that can normally be done during a church service and it can become a positive  place where members share and support each other with events in their lives. There are nine house groups listed on the church website but I believe there are more meeting together.

Why is your site named after Focus and not your leader's name?

The idea of the site was created while the majority of us were taking part in a course run by the then assistant minister, Peter Scott along with the Church leadership team including the minister Steve Kelly, and with the impending completion of the course, many of wished to continue meeting together. The course was called Focus, thus the name. More details can be found here

What is the website about then?

It is an additional  place to share some of ideas, thoughts and beliefs of our faith amongst ourselves and others too if they are interested. Why the christian faith? Why do we believe what we do?

Additionally since we believe that we need to bring all of life under the authority of God rather that  just what happens on Sundays there may be 'other' stuff included here.
